The night after my grandmother died, Rinpoche flew in to Penang to perform her last rites. After that, Rinpoche spent hours talking to every single one of us to make sure we understood she had taken a good rebirth. My nan was one of the warmest, kindest, most patient people I’ve ever known. She wrote me this letter when I was 8 or 9, even though she had problems writing (and hated her own handwriting). I’m infinitely grateful Rinpoche was there to make sure she was okay.
